Revised check-in timings

Effective 1 April 2009, Gulf Air check-in counters will be closed (the last time passengers will be accepted for check-in on their booked flight) as below:

Premium Check In

Bahrain, Dubai and Muscat
Gulf Air offers dedicated check in facilities for First and Business Class customers as well as Gold and Silver level Frequent flyer members.

The check in lounges have been designed to provide a haven where travelers can relax prior to proceeding to the dedicated immigration and security areas nearby, ensuring a smooth passage through to our award-winning lounges.

Abu Dhabi

First and Business Class passengers travelling from Abu Dhabi have the choice of checking in at:

  • The City Terminal Check-in, located next to Abu Dhabi Mall or

  • At the airport, where an exclusive First Class check-in area with separate immigration counters is available.

Passengers travelling in any class on any Gulf Air route from Bahrain, Abu Dhabi (City Terminal), Dubai and Muscat now have the added convenience of being able to check-in up to 24 hours prior to their departure time with their baggage. Normal passenger and baggage check-in procedures will apply and passengers will be presented with boarding passes. Passengers must however, return to the airport and proceed directly to the departure gate an hour prior to the departure time of their flight.

Terms and Conditions

  • Passengers must remember to provide the reservations agent with a mobile telephone number to ensure they are notified automatically of their flight status via SMS.

  • All Gulf Air passengers travelling in any class can check-in up to 24 hours prior to the time of departure of their flight.

  • Only a travelling member of the group/family is permitted to check-in early (on behalf of the group/family) and must hold all valid documents i.e. tickets and passports, for the entire travelling party when checking-in. Any representative not travelling with the group will not be permitted to check-in on the passenger's behalf.

  • All travel documents i.e. tickets and passports will be checked and the usual security questions asked, as per normal procedure.

  • Passengers may check-in at the relevant check-in counter with their baggage, as per normal procedure.

  • Passengers will be allocated seats and boarding passes will be presented. Passengers travelling in First or Business Class, or Gold or Silver Frequent flyer members will also be issued with lounge invitation cards.

  • Passengers wishing to check-in baggage on their return to the airport must report to the relevant check-in counter an hour prior to departure and the usual security questions will be asked at this stage.

  • Normal baggage acceptance procedure and excess baggage charges will apply.

  • In addition to normal baggage tagging, special early check-in baggage tags will be used to identify early checked-in bag/s.

  • Passengers may use the e-kiosks to check-in early if they have hand baggage only.

  • Staff passengers and holders of ID/DG/AD and other discounted industry fares cannot use this service.

Same Day Check In

  • Passengers must remember to provide the reservations agent with a mobile telephone number at the time of booking their flight to ensure they are notified automatically of their flight status via SMS.

  • Passengers should check in at the relevant check in counter, as per normal procedure.

  • All travel documents i.e. tickets and passports will be checked and the usual check in procedure will be carried out.

  • Passengers with/without baggage will be allocated a seat/s and boarding pass(es) will be presented to them for their trip.

  • If passengers have baggage on their return trip and have already been checked in during their outbound departure, they must report to the airport check in counter an hour prior to the departure of their flight to complete check in formalities and check in their baggage.

  • Inbound passengers who have been checked in and have hand baggage only can proceed directly to the departure gate 45 minutes prior to the departure of their flight.

  • Same day check in for the return sector is not possible if using the e-kiosks.

  • Staff passengers and holders of ID/DG/AD and other discounted industry fares cannot use this service.

Telephone Check In

Passengers booked to travel in First or Business Class, or Gold and Silver Frequent flyer members travelling from Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai and Muscat can now check in by telephone or fax from the comfort of their home or office, 24 hours prior to the departure time of their flight.

Terms and Conditions

Telephone check in:

  • Passengers can call to check-in 24 hours prior to their flight departure time giving reservation details, FFP number (if applicable), contact details, seat preference and whether they have baggage to be checked-in.

  • The agent will complete the check-in process and passengers will receive confirmation that they are accepted for the flight and will be allocated a seat number.

  • Passengers must report to the premium check-in counter at least one hour prior to the flight departure time to pick up their boarding card and lounge invitations and check-in their baggage (if any).

Other airport check in Terms and Conditions:

Fast Track

Early Check-In

Quick clearance through airport formalities

When time is of the essence, and you are in a hurry, Gulf Air can provide a speedy clearance through the formalities of international air travel.

Those passengers travelling in our premium cabins and departing from Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai or London Heathrow, can use dedicated Fast Track immigration channels to avoid the queues during departure procedures.

And, special Fast Track counters for First and Business Class passengers are also available on arrival into Bahrain, Dubai and London Heathrow. Fast Track cards are distributed on board by the Cabin Services Manager prior to landing.

Lounge accessibility is available 3 to 4 hours prior the flight, depending on the opening of the Gulf Air check in desk at the airport.

Bahrain

Designed to reflect the essence of Gulf Air and its traditions of hospitality, the Gulf Air lounge at Bahrain International Airport features personalized service in a contemporary setting. Every facility is available, for those who wish to work, to snooze or simply to catch up on global events.

Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a gracious hostess and immediately assailed by the aroma of fresh coffee - a far cry from the usual bustle of international airports.

A panoramic view of aircraft taking off and landing provides a diverting backdrop to the sleek minimalist Arabian style incorporated throughout the lounge. Elevated seating areas offer comfort and privacy to guests, while plasma screens hanging from the ceiling provide news and entertainment.

Facilities include:

  • A First Class section featuring a private 'majlis' or traditional Arabic seating area. At specific times, Gulf Air's Sky Chefs are on hand to create a personal menu of European and Middle Eastern dishes.

  • Our dedicated childcare service for children has been extended to the Bahrain lounge, and the Sky Nanny is available from 0800 to 1400 each day to provide a wide range of on-the-ground services to complement the much heralded on board service.

  • The colorful Family Section, designed specifically for the convenience of those travelling with children. This separate seating area features a playroom with Microsoft X-box systems and the latest games.

  • The Business Center is fully equipped with telephones and fax services as well as Apple Mac computers, a world first in an airline lounge. And for the convenience of those with their own laptops, wireless Internet access is available allowing connection from anywhere in the lounge.

Our premium lounge Dubai International Airport boast convenient business facilities, shower cubicles and a buffet presentation of hot and cold meals/refreshments.

London

First and Business Class departure lounge

Centrally located adjacent to the American Airlines' Admirals Club Lounge in Terminal 3, the Gulf Air lounge was inspired by the design elements of our award winning First and Business Class lounge at Bahrain International Airport.

Among the facilities on offer to guests are:

  • Luxurious and comfortable seating for more than 30 people

  • Washrooms with shower facilities and Temple Spa toiletries

  • Hand-baggage and coat storage

  • Meeting pods

  • Wireless Internet connection

  • Light refreshments and snacks

  • TV monitors

  • Newspapers and magazines

  • Tarmac views

American Airlines' Arrivals Lounge

This facility is available to premium passengers arriving from the Gulf into London Heathrow early in the morning. Cabin Service Managers on board the inbound flights will distribute lounge invitation cards prior to landing, showing directions on the reverse.

Open from 0600 to 1400 hours daily, the lounge has a Business Centre with PC connections, fax machines and a photocopier. The lounge is located on the second floor, after you have cleared Customs.

Other facilities include:

  • Continental breakfast buffet

  • 29 showers with towels and toiletries

  • Trouser press, steam cleaning facility and full ironing service

First and Business Class passengers travelling to destinations where dedicated Gulf Air lounges are not available can use the lounges listed below:

Meet & Greet

Gulf Air's "Meet and Greet" service takes the stress out of airport formalities helping to make any journey through the airport quick and easy. Dedicated Gulf Air representatives can be requested to assist with check-in, immigration and other formalities. Staff are also available to escort passengers through to our well-equipped departure lounges.

This service must be booked in advance.
